Step ‘Into/Out Of’: A Journey Through Two Worlds – New Album by Folk Blues Roots Virtuoso Daryl James – OUT NOW!
After four transformative years, folk blues roots multi-instrumentalist Daryl James is proud to unveil his latest album, ‘Into/Out Of’. This deeply personal work captures the turbulence, growth, and renewal experienced both individually and collectively during these unprecedented times. The album is presented in two distinct halves, each reflecting the emotional and musical shifts of this journey.
Part 1: INTO delivers a heavy, blues-driven roots sound, embodying the intensity and grit of navigating life’s challenges.
Part 2: OUT OF shifts into a more immersive, folky vibe, offering moments of reflection, light, and renewal.
Together, these two halves form a cohesive narrative of duality—exploring struggle and beauty, darkness and light, loss and transformation.
A Bit About the Album
“It has been a four-year cycle, one that has witnessed much upheaval in our world during that time,” Daryl shares. “As so much has shifted in our society, so much has changed within. As a result, so has my music. I felt I had to split the album into two parts: 'Into' as a more heavy, blues roots offering, and 'Out Of' as a more folky, immersive offering.”
The cover features a picture of the woods from Daryl’s homelands in North Wales, serving as both a metaphor for the years passed and the journey he’s been through. “I believe many of you have experienced a similar journey through the unknown, needing to adapt and transform, emerging on the other side not entirely the same,” he reflects.
Music with Meaning
Releasing an album is always deeply symbolic for Daryl. “Like many artists, I create music to try to make sense of things and navigate my way through,” he explains. “It’s a personal process that involves confronting things that are uncomfortable as well as things that are beautiful. That is life; you can’t have one without the other. This duality is represented in the two sides of this album.”
He adds, “There is such catharsis in finally letting go of something that has been a part of you for so long. To take it a step further, it’s like both a birth for the art and a death for the creator, as it is now no longer yours. It’s ‘Out Of’ my head and ‘Into’ the collective consciousness. This is great and ultimately what you’ve been working towards. You just hope that it connects, resonates, and has some meaning for whoever listens.”
